An incongruous event occurred in the Indian Parliament on the 19th of December in the 2024 Session where two BJP employees namely Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were hurt. This scuffle which was a result of an altercation between the BJP and Congress party supported growing political volatile. All the injured MPs were treated and have been discharged from the hospital as mentioned above.
The Incident
The scuffle emerged out of an alleged protest by the BJP legislators. The candidates were protesting against some alleged comments by Congress members against the inalienable part of India Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It is said that during the ruckus, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wanted to pass through the people, and this resulted in the clash. Members of BJP alleged that Gandhi accused misplaced an MP who in turn squealed which resulted in somebody falling and getting injured.
Injuries Sustained
High profile Orissa BJP MP Pratap Sarangi, who was attacked with a sharper weapons, had his forehead slashed and needed stitches. Another BJP MP Mukesh Rajput from Uttar Pradesh lost his balance and head injury and also got briefly unconscious. Both the MPs were admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi, they were being treated and later discharged after being kept under observation in the Intensive Care Unit or ICU.
Differing Allegations
BJP and Congress have engaged in an exchange of words after this scuffle. BJP MPs such as Union minister Anurag Thakur accused Rahul Gandhi of provoking the physical scuffle. While the Congress leaders accused BJP MPs of using abusive language and threatening them including the party’s president Mallikarjun Kharge.
What Led to the Scuffle?
It is worth mentioning that the disagreement arose over some matters of the Constitution. The Congress members protested against comments that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made on Dr. Ambedkar. There were protest or demonstrations soon which unfortunately led to the said unfortunate clash.
Current Status
Separately, both injured MPs have been treated and have since been discharged from the hospital. The situation has become politicized, however, because of the incident . Both houses have lodged complaints with the Speaker of Parliament basically each accused the other of being unruly during the sittings of the Parliament session.
Conclusion
The incident not only led to some fisticuffs but went on to tide over some serious differences between the two major political parties in India. Such incidents have caused the public to question the appropriate conduct in one of the nation’s most vital parliaments at the same time the assailed members are recovering fully.
