For Maharashtra, it’s an important time, somebody is watching a big meeting in New Delhi that could decide who the next chief minister is. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also meet the current caretaker CM Eknath Shinde, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Thursday. The Mahayuti alliance’s big election win this meeting is expected to help form a new government.
Shinde’s Promise to the BJP
The chief minister Eknath Shinde has said he will back the BJP’s decision of who becomes the next CM. This promise will put a end to any doubts as to his loyalty towards the alliance. Shinde said he had told PM Modi and Amit Shah that he will follow their decision and spoke to reporters in Thane. “Our Shiv Sena will support who the BJP chooses as their next CM,” he added. “We’ve got nothing from our side.” His words have given the public and the political leaders confidence that the alliance is solid and together.
Ajit Pawar’s Update on Plans for the New Government
The new chief minister could take the oath between November 30 and December 1, said Ajit Pawar. Additionally, he added, the new government will have two deputy chief ministers. Saying this could make the new government stable, Pawar suggested there will be two deputy chief ministers.
Shinde’s Response to Disappointment Rumors
Talks have been going on that Shinde may not have been happy over not being the CM after the alliance has done well and they form a govt. Yet even Shinde denied these rumors. “Nobody is upset. That erased any doubts, ‘We have Mahayuti worked together,’ he said. But when asked whether he was disappointed, Shinde said: ‘No such thing’. I have ‘taken the support’ of the BJP in my time as CM.’ He also thanked the people of Maharashtra saying, “I appreciate the people of Maharashtra for trusting me.” For me it is not just a title but a job, it’s a job to serve the people.”
What’s Next for Maharashtra?
The meeting in Delhi is an important moment in the future of Maharashtra. The next chief minister will set a path for the state’s policies and leadership. Devendra Fadnavis is treated as a strong contender for the post but there is no clear winner for the next chief minister; the final decision will be important in strengthening and continuity of the government.
With Amit Shah meeting almost under their noses, people are wondering what will turn up. If a decision is taken, Maharashtra will go from there with a new leadership, which will open new doors for Maharashtra.
